Founder Bio

With more than 20 years of experience leading people, culture, and organizational strategy across nonprofit and corporate sectors, I, Daphne Diane Heffner, founder of Safe Space HR, have a clear mission:
"To provide employees at every level—from hourly to executives—with a confidential space to seek guidance outside the workplace."
I served as a Chief People Officer, Interim CEO, Chief of Staff, Vice President of HR & Administration, and in various senior leadership roles across Fortune 500 companies and mission-based organizations. I know the mistrust, uncertainty, and fear of retaliation that far too many employees have and why they hesitate to go to their HR or their direct supervisor. I created Safe Space HR because I believe everyone deserves a confidential HR coach that genuinely cares—and a place where they can feel seen, heard, and valued.
My empowerment-focused coaching approach centers on self-reflection, accountability, and ownership. While many employees care deeply about improving their workplace, her model helps people focus more on what they can control—their own growth, choices, and presence. I empower individuals to navigate challenges confidently and effectively, while also strengthening their capacity to contribute to healthier workplace dynamics.
I have a career that was built through perseverance and experience, giving me a deeper understanding of what it feels like to be unseen or undervalued. Today, I carry that perspective and compassion, ensuring that Safe Space HR remains a place of caring support and safety—where every employee can discover their own strength, resilience, and a path forward.
“No matter your role, background, or title—every employee deserves a safe and caring space to be heard, supported, and empowered.”
